Cala Grano
In 1962 a group of international tycoons, led by Karim Aga Khan, founded an organization to start a wide tourist operation. The coastline once called ‘Monti di Mola’ became the Costa Smeralda. Since then, things would not have been the same any longer for Arzachena and Sardinia in general. Exclusive hotels and luxurious villas were built and the Costa Smeralda soon became the most important tourist area in term of quality in Italy. The ancient trees, the Mediterranean bush, the jagged coastline, the clearness of sea, became luxury places. The architectural style adopted tried to protect nature and sometimes, to privatize it, making the landscape part of the buildings. The first settlements were Porto Cervo, Cala di Volpe, the surroundings of Pitrizza and Liscia di Vacca beaches.
Mortorio
